CHILI

On a day like today there is nothing better than chili and I love to cook it. My friends have always told me they love my chili, they could be saying that just because they are nice, but I really hope not, because i put a lot of hard work into it.

I usually start cooking around 9 or 10 in the morning and it's ready to eat around 4 or 5 in the evening. I meticulously chop veggies and saute them in beer, add spices and slow cook it for 6 hours. When it is done add sour cream, cheese, and chopped onions and enjoy.

you need lots of peppers for chili

the peter pepper, my favorite pepper of the year

Progress

Tomorrow's the big day.

I'm putting in all the electric...
recessed lights, receptacles, switches
and
a lot of other fancy things this electrician can do.

This is my favorite part of the garage.
I'm toying with whether I should hang
outdoor fixtures here in this walkway
or install recessed lights.

Either way,
Maya's keeping a close eye on me.

Life is good and I am sleepy

Today the garage project officially started. It seems like I have done more work than anyone, but that is ok, I have been waiting for this thing for 7 years. I am too pooped to write much, but you can see our progress here.

The footers were dug today, and the goats don't yet have their fans, but we will be rolling tomorrow.

I really can't wait for the weekend to relax with the family and hang with kerlin and jack.

Stakes and orange spray paint

The garage project is under way and all we have to show for it are stakes and orange spray paint. Lots of stakes marking this and spray paint marking that.

Today I got a phone call from the power company telling me they could not schedule any work because of the size of the temporary service wall and then I got a phone call 20 minutes later, to give me the date they were coming to do the work.

The engineer was out today to verify some of the stakes and orange paint, which has only led us to getting more permits and more inspections. Someday hopefully soon we will have our garage.

That diet thing

Today i realized there are no such things as diet aids.

I woke up this morning feeling great. No weight gain, actually feeling a little thinner, until driving to work, I stopped at 7 eleven and I bought a 1 liter bottle of water and a banana muscle milk. Wow! The only muscles that wanted to work were my jaw muscles, I was ravenous, I wanted to eat everything, Then all of a sudden it came to me. I was cheating myself of real food. When I eat a real breakfast, lunch and dinner I do great, when I cheat and use a diet aid I am hungry all day.

So very long story short, eating right really is the key to a good diet.

vroom vroom

This is my 1960 beetle, only the nicest and most special car I have owned.

My wife's grandfather gave it to me before he passed away. We had several conversations about vw's in the short time that I knew him, but the one thing I learned was, he really liked vw's.

This beetle had an off the frame restoration sometime in the eighties. When I got the car it was last registered in 1984, which means it sat garaged for 20 years.

After 3 years of searching for a gas tank, i found a guy just up the road, and turns out his name was "vw Joe".  Joe hooked me up with the gas tank, and here we are. My favorite non human or animal thing in the world.
